Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or
twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures of conversations in it, 'and what
is the use of a book,' thought Alice 'without pictures or conversations?'

Alices Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There are both books written by
Lewis Caroll. These books would go on to become hits worldwide, influencing and inspiring countless other movies,
books, video games, etc.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is the first book, released in 1865. In the book, Alice chases a White Rabbit into
Wonderland after falling asleep on the bank. For the first half of the book, she wanders around Wonderland trying to
find the White Rabbit. For the second half of the book, she wants to get back home. Throughout the entire book,
Alice meets multiple characters and finds various places that are both non-sensical and oftentimes seem to only get
in the way.

Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There is the second book, released around Christmas in 1871. In this
book, Alice goes (get this) through the looking glass above her fireplace! (Shocking, I know) She spends the book
navigating a giant chess board where she is a pawn and must therefore abide by pawn rules. By the end of the book,
Alice ends up becoming a queen. Once again, the characters and places in this book are completely nonsensical and
often serve to get in the way of Alice.
